Reflect is an intimate, unfiltered fine art photojournalism series exploring the everyday lives of a mother and daughter—Senka and Bella—both neurodiverse, both living with mental health challenges in social housing. Created collaboratively over two weeks when Bella was just 11, the project captures the rhythm of domestic life with raw honesty and emotional nuance.

Each image pair—one taken by Bella, one by Senka—forms a visual conversation. The opening set frames them photographing each other, establishing a call-and-response dynamic that runs throughout the work. More than documentation, this is co-authorship: a shared act of witnessing.

The photos focus on the mundane—brushing teeth, cooking, sitting quietly. There’s no staging, no aesthetic gloss. Rooms are messy, lighting uneven, expressions unposed. These images resist the curated perfection of social media and instead present domestic life in all its unvarnished truth.

Reflect centres around narratives rarely seen in fine art: social housing, female neurodivergence, single parenting. In doing so, it dignifies them. The camera becomes a tool of care—each frame an act of seeing and being seen.

Ultimately, Reflect is a portrait of entanglement and empathy. It asks: who gets to look, and who is looked at? In embracing the unguarded moment, it reminds us that ordinary life, in all its quiet chaos, is more than enough.
